Brief History of Mazda Motor Corporation

Mazda goes back to 1920 in Hiroshima, Japan where it began as a manufacturer of three-wheeled motorcycles. In the 1930s, Mazda sponsored events promoting these “Autorickshaws” creating a buzz that caused the popularity of these motorized carts to climb and propelled the reputation of the company as an innovator in the market.

Mazda produced its first passenger vehicle in 1940 but still continued to specialize in its unique three-wheeled carts well into the 1950s. Ultimately, it led to the development of the rotary engines that Mazda is famous for.
