Guide to Oklahoma City with Bob Moore Auto Group

From Bob Moore Auto Group

Welcome to Oklahoma City, the state of Oklahoma’s capital and largest city! Through the decades, OKC has grown from a small oil town to a vibrant center of culture, sports, and history that continues to surprise. Oklahoma City is a diverse city, with a wide range of activities for folks visiting from out of town. Popular suburbs like Edmond and Norman, home to the University of Oklahoma, surround the City itself. OKC is also home to Bob Moore Auto Group, where you can find 15 of our OKC car dealerships throughout the city! We’re proud to call Oklahoma City home and are always thrilled to recommend some of our favorite places to visit throughout the city. If you’re visiting one of our car dealerships in OKC from out of town, be sure to enjoy some of OKC’s best destinations!

Downtown Oklahoma City

Downtown OKC

The heart of Oklahoma City is home to some of the best experiences in the city. Downtown, you’ll find watersports, premier parks, walkable shops and restaurants. Some of our favorite things to do downtown include:

  • Riversport OKC – Nestled right in Oklahoma City, you’ll find water sports galore on Lake Overholser and Lake Hefner. The Boathouse District is home to whitewater rafting, tubing, water skiing, and more!
  • Bricktown – Just to the North of the Boathouse District is Bricktown, one of the main hubs of OKC. Bricktown is defined by the canal running through the district, offering views as you shop and eat your way through one of the most beautiful riverwalks in the country.
  • OKC Thunder – Oklahoma’s first professional sports team moved here in 2008 and has been a central part of the city ever since. The Thunder already have a storied history thanks to the likes of players like Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, but are being carried to new heights this generation thanks to the likes of Shai Gilgous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and others!
  • Scissortail Park – Scissortail opened in 2019, named after the state bird, the Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher. The 70-acre park connects downtown to the Oklahoma River and features gardens, artwork, playgrounds, and pavilions.
  • OKANA – OKANA Resort is a new resort and waterpark set to open at the start of 2025, offering family-friendly thrills, fine dining, and entertainment that’s sure to attract a crowd from across the region. OKANA offers an indoor waterpark, 11 pools, and 13 food and drink outlets.
The Plaza District in downtown OKC

The Plaza District

The Plaza District is a cultural center a few miles northwest of downtown, featuring some of the city’s best food, drinks, shopping, and art. Some of our personal favorites include:

  • Craft Beer in OKC – Popular breweries include The Mule, offering an extensive beer list with craft grilled cheeses and beer-battered fries. Empire Slice House also has a great selection of craft beers, served alongside top-tier pizzas till 2 AM.
  • Desserts in OKC – Find the best pies in the state at Pie Junkie’s, offering individual slices, whole pies, and even bake-at-home options. Be sure to order ahead around the holidays! During the summer, treat yourself to ice cream at Roxy’s Ice Cream Social, a food truck turned brick and motor known for its salted caramel ice cream.
  • Restaurants in OKC – Some of our favorite eats in the city are found in the Plaza District, including Ma Der Lao Kitchen, a Laotian restaurant with small plates and great ambiance, making it a great date location. If you’re craving rich and creamy pasta, swing by Osteria instead, an Italian Restaurant with excellent craft cocktails.
  • Plaza District Shopping – After dinner, take a walk down the Plaza District and take a look at some of the local shops. The District is littered with small, family-owned Boutiques with a wide variety of gift stores, thrift stores, and more.
  • Local Art – As you stroll through the Plaza District, you’ll notice murals on nearly every building, adding a vibrant, colorful feel to this area of the city. As you keep exploring, you’ll notice a plethora of local art galleries to visit!
Paseo Artist district sculpture

The Paseo Arts District

Paseo is located northeast of Downtown, a couple miles from the Plaza District and Downtown. Paseo is more arts-focused than other districts, offering a different flavor than the Plaza or Downtown.

  • Art Galleries – The Paseo Arts District is home to over 20 art galleries and 80 artists. Since they’re all so close by, it’s easy to walk from one gallery to another, making it a central destination for art crawls.
  • Paseo Food – While you’re in the area, check out some of our favorite restaurants like the Paseo Grill, with a streetside patio and fine wine. Also, check out the Picasso Cafe, offering vegan-friendly options, farm-to-table food and live music.
  • Paseo Shopping – Like the rest of the districts we’ve covered, Paseo offers excellent shopping opportunities, from the art galleries to the thrift stores to the boutique gift shops.
Chicken n Pickle ball court

North OKC

Northern Oklahoma City is a quickly growing destination with new athletic centers, shopping and a growing restaurant scene.

  • Chicken n Pickle – One of our favorite destinations in the city, Chicken N Pickle is an upscale pickleball experience that offers food and games! Bob Moore Cadillac regularly holds pickleball tournaments here, so feel free to join us for the next match!
  • Top Golf – Another trending sports venue, Top Golf takes you to the driving range, offering three levels of driving ranges, allowing you to play various games with your friends! Stay for food and drinks while your friends and family pull and slice their shots.
