Oklahoma Blood Institute New Car Giveaway
For the last 22 years, Bob Moore Auto Group has proudly supported the Oklahoma Blood Institute due to its clear drive in helping sick patients. When lives are on the line, it’s important to be able to give back to the community. In the last few years, we’ve seen a horrible virus ravage our neighborhoods and close our shops, causing the need for a bigger push for blood. As hospitals around Tulsa, Norman, and Oklahoma City became filled with patients across the board, we thought it was important that the talented nurses and doctors working the cases were well supplied.
Doing Our Part
The community doesn’t need a push to give back, as we’ve seen time and time again that the proud residents of Oklahoma will always rise to the occasion. Still, we thought it might be important to reward the residents for going out of their way to donate blood, which is why we offer the chance at a free car every year. Bob Moore Auto Group is nothing without the backing of its strong community, which is why a strong prize is needed to reward the hard work of those individuals who carved time out of their day to go give liters of blood at a time. We realize that this can leave you a little woozy, and not exactly feeling your greatest, which is why it’s so impressive to see the droves of people on their way to help.
To Save a Life
Every liter of blood that’s packed away and marked is potentially another life saved. The healthcare system is fairly crazy, as you could have someone walk in with just about any type of injury or sickness imaginable. Without the stored blood, doctors and nurses are unable to perform the life-saving care that helps their patients. Blood doesn’t last forever though, as it’s quickly used up or goes bad after a certain period, which is why it’s so important to continue to give back. When you donate blood, you may want to consider having a glass of orange juice or a side of spinach, as this will help you get over feeling cold or dizzy. It’s important to take care of yourself, especially when you’re trying to take care of everyone else.
Donating blood mainly helps the patients, but there are a few perks for the donator as well. On top of having a shot at a new car, you’ll also be burning some serious calories, as you might lose up to 650 calories after a donation. You’ll also receive a free check-up when you donate, as your blood has to be monitored in order to make sure it’s safe to give to other patients. The physician handling the drawing of your blood can easily let you know if you have any blood-borne diseases, or if you’re suffering from some other illness. You’ll also receive a more general check-up in the form of taking your blood pressure and pulse. Although this isn’t any substitute for a doctor’s visit, it does let you tune in to what you need health-wise, and can lead you to understand your body just a little bit better.
