Why Military Leases Make Sense

When looking for a new vehicle, most folks choose to either lease or finance. Both have distinct advantages and disadvantages. However, many service members find that leasing makes sense due to their unique circumstances. Leasing often means you’ll pay less per month for your vehicle when compared to financing, as a lease represents less risk to the dealership. This allows you to save some extra cash or look at models you may not be able to afford if financing. Leasing also allows you to be more flexible. We can build lease terms that make sense for you and your timeline, working around any deployments or transfers you may have in the future. Leases also come with flexibility at the end of your lease. You can choose to buy your car outright, continue the lease, or upgrade your vehicle. Most of our brands offer lease-end specials, including reduced terms, early upgrades, and other financial motivations for signing another lease with us. While leasing makes sense for service members due to the flexibility, it’s not always the right choice for everyone.

Considerations Before Leasing

While leasing is great for the short term, it has some restrictions worth noting. Your lease will come with usage and mileage restrictions to ensure the resale value for the dealership, which some may find restrictive. You may be subject to additional fees if the vehicle is returned in poor condition or with too many miles on the odometer. Additionally, signing a lease means you aren’t building equity in the vehicle, so you won’t be able to resell it in the future. Financing a vehicle alleviates both of these pain points, albeit at a higher monthly price than a lease. It’s important for you to perform your own arbitrage to ensure you know which makes sense for you. Take advantage of online resources like our Leasing vs Financing guide and payment calculator to determine which makes more sense.
