Automakers Announce Plans for Charging Stations

In recent auto industry news, seven major automakers announced they are forming a new company to provide electric vehicle charging stations around the United States in an attempt to challenge Tesla. The group includes the likes of General Motors, Hyundai Motors, Stellantis, Honda, BMW, and Mercedes Benz, making up over half of the vehicle sales in the U.S. The group plans to take advantage of the Biden administrations subsidies and has set a target of 500,000 chargers nationwide by 2030.

What This Means for Drivers

This move from major automakers opens the doors to most Americans owning their own electric vehicle. Charging is a top priority of EV owners, and having more access to public charging will only increase their interest in owning their own. These chargers will support vehicles under all of the automakers, along with Tesla vehicles. Although this announcement in the beginning stages, it is something to keep in mind if you’re considering buying an EV in the near future.
